Handling Alarms

An alarm that becomes active will display in the status bar at the bottom of the screen, in the example below:

One Warning

One Alert

are shown.

Note: Information type alarms do not display on the status bar.

To view the triggered alarms select the Alarms view from the side bar, Alarms can also be displayed using the View > Show Alarms menu option or by using Shift+F3.

The Alarms Event Log window can be automatically displayed when an Alert type alarm is triggered, select the option in the Alarm Setup dialog.

Alarm Reset

Alarm conditions that are no longer true, but have not been acknowledged, appear with a grey background (also in the Alarms Event Log window). These alarms will remain in this state until:

  • They are acknowledged by the user.
  • The alarm conditions are again evaluated as true.

Acknowledge Alarms

To dismiss all alarm events:

Select from the Active Component Tool bar to Acknowledge All Alarms.

In the Alarms Event Log window select the Acknowledge All button.

To dismiss a single alarm event:

On the alarm banner select Acknowledge this alarm. .

Or

  1. In the Real Time tab of the Alarms Event Log window select the desired alarm event.
  2. Select the button to the right of the alarm item.

    Or

    Right-click and select Acknowledge.

Ignoring Alarms

Alarm events can be ignored so that when triggered they do not appear in the Status Bar or in the Alarms Event Log.

On the alarm banner select Ignore this alarm for the entire session. .

Or

  1. In the Real Time tab of the Alarms Event Log window select the desired alarm event.
  2. Right-click and select Ignore.

The Ignored alarms are moved to the Status tab in the Alarms Event Log window.

To Remove the Ignore Status on an Alarm

  1. From the Status tab on the Alarms Event Log, select the alarm.
  2. Double-click on the alarm.
  3. The alarms will move back to the Real Time Tab.

Invalid Alarm Items

If an alarm is created that is invalid it will display on the Status tab.

Examples of invalid alarms could be:

  • An incomplete or erroneous alarm
  • An alarm that requires a channel that is not available in the current Package.
