Migrating Data
Data migration refers to the copying of Tune data from one Package to another.
Migration can be required for a number of reasons. The most common is to populate new firmware. New firmware will initially have empty fuel maps, ignition maps, sensor calibrations etc. Rather than requiring the user to manually search through the Package and fill in all of the tables and parameters, existing M1 Tune data can be migrated to the new Package using the migration tools.
There are two main methods by which migration can occur.
- Auto Migration
M1 Tune automatically takes values from the source and migrates them into the destination. This will occur when you install new firmware into an ECU and the previous firmware matches the new firmware.
- Manual Migration
Use Compare Packages to find the differences between two or more packages. The user can then migrate individual changes or migrate all changes.
